Praying the Rosary as a Family

October is the month of the Rosary. A simple, realistic guide for busy homes.

The Rosary walks with Mary through the life of Jesus: the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries, and the Luminous mysteries added by St. John Paul II in 2002.

Start small

A whole Rosary can feel long with small children. Begin with one decade after dinner. Let a different family member announce the mystery each night, and let the youngest hold the beads.

Make it personal

Before each decade, name one person to pray for — a sick grandparent, a friend sitting an exam, a neighbour in trouble. Children learn that prayer is about real people.
